Here Are All the Phoenix Restaurants That Opened and Closed in November

The restaurant scene in the Valley saw several openings this month. We welcomed three coffee joints, Black Rock Coffee, Dapper & Stout, and Colorado-based Ziggi’s. A local staple, Chompie’s opened its largest location in Phoenix and several ethnic eateries greeted patrons in November.

Unfortunately, we said farewell to a couple of Phoenix staples: 24 Carrots Natural Cafe & Urban Juicery and Ah-So Teppanyaki & Sushi House of Japan. Below, check out the full list of openings and closings in the Phoenix restaurant scene from November 2021.
             
OPENINGS

Chompie’s
3212 East Cactus Road

The largest location of Chompie’s welcomed guests this month in Phoenix. The fifth location showcases its fast-casual concept with deli-style food, as well as Jewish specialty dishes.

Black Rock Coffee
303 South Arizona Avenue, Chandler
All the coffee favorites, everything from lattes to mochas, can be found at Black Rock Coffee. The latest location is now open in Chandler.

K-38 Beach Mex Cantina
155 West Ocotillo Road, #1, Chandler
K-38 Beach Mex Cantina is inspired by Baja food vendors in California. The restaurant features margaritas and more Mondays, kids eat free on Wednesdays, as well as lunch specials. The vibe is casual and chill.

Dapper & Stout
100 East Camelback Road, #150
Dapper & Stout caters to the coffee and cocktail drinker. A third location has opened on Camelback. Guests can choose from a variety of teas, frappes, mochas, as well as beers and cocktails.

El Fogón Taqueria
3111 West Chandler Boulevard, # 216 Chandler
El Fogón Taqueria opened its doors at the food court in Chandler Fashion Center Mall. Regular favorites like tacos, burritos, and quesadillas are available on the menu.

Bap and Chicken
960 North 54th Street, Chandler

The first Bap and Chicken has opened in Chandler. The eatery showcases Korean fried chicken as well as bibimbap, a mix of various ingredients plus rice.

Tap Dragon Craft Beer & Wine
835 South Gilbert Road, #101, Gilbert
At the newest bar in Gilbert, Tap Dragon Craft Beer & Wine, ciders, meads, wines, and of course, craft beers will be on the menu. It’s the first official taproom in Gilbert.

The popular Salad & Go has opened its third Scottsdale location.

Ziggi’s Coffee
4044 South Arizona Avenue, Chandler
Colorado-based Ziggi’s Coffee set up shop in Chandler this month. Coffee, smoothies and light eats are available on the menu.

Babbo Italian Eatery
15705 West McDowell Road, Goodyear

The eighth location of family-owned Babbo Italian Eatery has opened in Goodyear. Customers can choose from classic Italian favorites like pizza, pasta, and calzones.

Ono Hawaiian BBQ
9954 South Rural Road, Tempe
The 10th location of Ono Hawaiian BBQ opened in Tempe this month. Plate lunches, Aloha plates, and mini meals are featured at this California-based restaurant.

Salt Tacos y Tequila
2206 East Williams Field Road, #101, Gilbert
The second Salt Tacos y Tequila has opened in Gilbert. The restaurant highlights Mexican favorites like burrito and enchiladas, as well as rice and queso.

Pedal Haus Brewery
214 East Roosevelt Street
Pedal Haus Brewery has opened its downtown Phoenix spot. Enjoy locally brewed beers and small bites at all of the locations. There are plans to open a fourth location in Mesa next year.

DJ Khaled has opened four ghost kitchen locations of Another Wing in Tempe and Phoenix, highlighting chicken wings and various sauces.

Tacos Calafia

Try Tijuana-style cuisine at Ahwatukee’s Tacos Calafia. The restaurant has opened its sixth storefront in the Valley.

Cha Da Thai
2765 North Scottsdale Road, #107, Scottsdale
Bussara “Nina” Irwin opened Cha Da Thai in Scottsdale this month. Bento boxes as well as traditional Thai dishes are served at the restaurant.

Far Away Wine & Provisions
3031 East Indian School Road, #10
The 30-seat wine bar, Far Away Wine & Provisions, features wines, as well as beers and other small bites. The menu also showcases artisan cheeses and meats.

NOTABLE CLOSINGS

24 Carrots Natural Cafe & Urban Juicery
The landlord isn’t renewing the lease at 24 Carrots Natural Cafe & Urban Juicery. Sadhana “Sasha” Raj’s vegetarian/vegan restaurant closed this month. It opened in 2013.

Casanova Bros. Pizza & Pasta
After 14 years, Casanova Bros. Pizza & Pasta, on the northeast corner of Val Vista and Guadalupe, has closed permanently. The closing was a result of co-owner Mike Casanova’s death from COVID-19 in August.

Ah-So Teppanyaki & Sushi House of Japan
Ah-Ah-So Teppanyaki & Sushi House of Japan in Mesa has closed after 14 years of business.

Mai Mochi Donuts
After one year in business, Mai Mochi Donuts, featuring Japanese-style sweet treats, has closed its doors.
