Today Shiro Games and Funcom released a major update for the 4X real-time strategy game Dune: Spice Wars, which is currently in early access.
Among the new goodies, we get a handy end-of-game stats board, improvement to map generation and starting spawns, new regions, military gear, village traits, spying operations, councilor reworks, and much more.
The update can be downloaded now on Steam for those who have purchased an early access copy, and below you can read a list of major changes. If you want to learn more, the full patch notes can be perused here. Just make sure to grab a cup of coffee because there is a lot to take in.
- Added End Game Statistics
- Military alerts now appear on the border of the screen pointing in the direction of the crisis
- Military units can now Hold their Position (With C)
- Fremen Harvesting Teams can now harvest Spice in neutral territories
- Map Generation improvements:
- Main Bases and Deep Desert spawning has changed to make maps that are both more fair and varied
- Changed Spice spawn to ensure less spiceless starts
- Military balancing
- Major performance improvements and optimization
Dune: Spice Wars is a 4X real-time strategy game game bringing back memories from the legendary games by Westwood. It has been in early access for a little less than a year and its developers are planning for a full release at some point this year. This isn’t the only Dune game that will come from under Funcom’s umbrella, as the developer is working on an online survival MMO titled Dune: Awakening, which is coming at some point in the future for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It seems very promising, especially considering Funcom’s experience in the genre with Conan Exiles.
