MUNCIE, Ind. – The Ball State field hockey team has another busy weekend on the docket with a pair of road game against Big Ten foe Indiana, starting Friday and then closes out the weekend on the road at Saint Louis Sunday afternoon.
They will face the Hoosiers at 3 p.m. ET at the IU Field Hockey Complex. Both teams met in the preseason for a scrimmage with Indiana winning that contest 3-0 in Bloomington.
The last time the Cardinals defeated Indiana was in 2012 when the Hoosiers played in Muncie. Ball State won that game by a score of 3-2. The Hoosiers have won the last five contests over Ball State. Indiana leads the all-time series between the two schools 19-5-1 with Ball State winning the first matchup 8-0 on Oct. 25, 2000.
Ball State closes its two-game weekend at Saint Louis Sunday at 2 p.m. ET. Ball State has shutout the Billikens in the last three meetings, a 5-0 contest in 2017, a 3-0 victory in 2019 and a 1-0 victory in 2021, with all three games being played in Muncie.
After this weekend, the Ball State field hockey team returns home and will open Mid-American Conference action against Longwood, Friday, Sept. 16 at 1 p.m. ET. The Cardinals will also pay tribute prior to the contest to the 1994 Ball State Field Hockey Team which will be inducted into the Ball State Athletics Hall of Fame later that evening.
