Fort Bragg, N.C. — A Fort Bragg solider faces numerous child sex charges after being found with a runaway child.
Pfc. Damien Campbell was charged with three counts of statutory rape, five counts of statutory sex offense and five counts of indecent liberties.
Cumberland County deputies said they were called to Maxwell Road on Thursday to help the Alleghany County (Ga.) Sheriff’s Office in finding a runaway 12-year-old.
When they arrived, they found the missing child and Campbell.
A spokesman for Fort Bragg said Campbell was an active-duty soldier assigned as a 25R Visual Information Equipment Operator-Maintainer within 1st Special Forces Command.
Campbell has been assigned to Fort Bragg since 2019 and had not been on any operational deployment.
He’s currently being held at Cumberland County Detention Center under $550,000 bond.
