Durham, N.C. — A second noose was found at the Merck pharmaceutical plant in Durham on Thursday.
The first noose was found hanging from a pole there on Sunday morning.
A spokesperson for Merck said the company was “outraged that symbols of hate have been found in construction areas at our Durham, North Carolina, plant.”
“We have zero tolerance for hate, racism and discrimination. We condemn all forms of racial hatred,” the company said in a statement.
A spokesperson added that the company was investigating what happened and was working with local law enforcement.
