Arrest after alcohol stolen from shop Co-op in Sutton-in-Ashfield


A man has been charged following the burglary of a shop in Sutton.

Police were called to Alfreton Road, Sutton-in-Ashfield, following reports that a window had been smashed and multiple bottles of alcohol stolen from a Co-op store.

Police spotted the wanted man during a patrol on September 21.

Martin Toon, 29, of no fixed address, has been charged with burglary and criminal damage and has since been bailed.

The alleged incident is reported to have taken place on August 27, just after 4.20am.

PC James Brown of the Ashfield Operation Reacher team said: “We understand the impact and cost that such incidents cause for businesses and any such reports are taken seriously and will be investigated thoroughly.

“A man has now been charged in relation to this incident and our investigation is ongoing.”

Toon is due to appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court on Thursday, October 14 2021.
