New ‘Instagrammable’ dessert shop opens in Nottingham selling pink waffles

A new dessert restaurant has opened in Nottingham selling pink waffles and with a focus on being a great location to take pictures for Instagram.

The “Instagrammable” dessert parlour called Dessert Lane officially opened on Saturday, July 17 on Lenton Boulevard where a fresh juice business used to be.

The chic shop is decked out with vibrant lighting and also has an outdoor area where customers can enjoy sweet treats in the good weather.

Plans are also being finalised for the business to double as a licensed shisha/ hookah lounge and to launch a delivery service in the coming weeks.

Owner Mohammad Malik, born and bred in Nottingham, said: “We opened last week with a soft-launch on Wednesday and officially opened on Saturday.

“There are lots of students around here but we’re not just focusing on them with this business. We are hoping anyone and everyone will want to come.

“The business based here before ended up having to close so we’re hoping to get on a bit better and have given the place a totally different look and something that the city does not already have.

“It’s more of an ‘Instagrammable‘ place than other dessert shops in the city and we also have an outside terrace that has a canopy.

“At the moment we are concentrating on how we are the first place in Notts to do waffle bites and we’re also the first place to do pink and black waffles.

“They’re really popular in London but we’ve brought that idea here and think it could take off. They look great in pictures

“We’ve not started that side of the business yet, but the plan is to offer shisha here as well. When we feel we’ve nailed the food side of things, we’ll start doing that and open our orders for online delivery too.”

Mr Malik added that he plans to open more Dessert Lane locations in the city so ice cream and other treats are available to residents across Nottingham.

The shop is now taking orders for eat-in and takeaway and is open from 5pm to 11pm from Sunday to Thursday and open until 1am on Friday and Saturday.
