Police statement after school warned parents over possible attempted abduction

Nottinghamshire Police has released a statement after a school warned parents over a possible attempted abduction.

The force says this email warning appears to have been put out following unverified social media claims.

Officers have been working with schools about the “miscommunication” over email which had been “sent in good faith”, the force said.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson added: “We have been working with a number of local schools following a miscommunication over an email which was sent in good faith by a local school warning parents there had been a possible attempted abduction.

“It appears to have been put out following unverified social media claims.

“We take all allegations extremely seriously and where things are brought to our attention we will investigate what may have occurred.

“We would always urge people to contact the force directly with any concerns at all that a crime may have been committed so we can investigate.”
