Vigil held to remember 5 Las Vegas cyclists killed in crash

LAS VEGAS (KTNV) — A vigil in honor of the five Las Vegas cyclists who lost their lives in a crash on Thursday morning was held today outside of Las Vegas Cyclery.

The cycling community came together to mourn the loss of Aksoy Ahmet, Michael Murray, Gerrard Nieva, Erin Ray, and Tom Trauger.

Dozens of flowers and notes with heartfelt messages were left, surrounding the white bikes monument, representing those no longer with us.

Cyclists also rode past the monument as a sign of respect.

The pain and sadness of the victims’ family members and fellow riders could be felt by everyone at the vigil.

Several riders in attendance made donations for the families involved. Organizers say the goal is to raise $1 million.

Several cyclists said that they need the community support to avoid another tragedy like this one and that everyone needs to be more careful on the road.

This memorial will continue for several days and donations can also be made online at LasVegasCyclistMemorial.com.

The crash is still under investigation.
