After winding the production on The White Lotus‘ second season in Sicily, creator Mike White hinted that he already had a season three destination in mind.
“The first season focused on the money and the second season on the sex,” he said. “I think the third season, maybe it would be a satirical and funny look at death, Eastern religion and spirituality. It looks like it could be a rich tapestry to take another round.”
However, before the season two premiere, he hypothesized something completely different– suggesting he had another idea for the second season, but ultimately decided to go the Sicilian direction.
“I might still do it later, if they give us a third season, so I don’t know if I should say,” Mike said Weekly entertainment September 29. “Originally it was more like a Bilderberg conference, more to get into some of the biggest power dynamics there. But Sicily was a totally different vibe to the idea I pitched. didn’t seem right.”
For the record, the Bilderberg meeting, created in 1954, is an unofficial gathering organized annually intended to encourage political and social discussions between the United States and Europe.
