Dog Climbs Six Feet To Escape From Pet Hotel, Travels Two Miles To Return Home

A dog has proven that nothing is impossible if you really want it. And apparently all he wanted was to go home – and he did!

Earlier this year, dog parents Jeremy and Sarah Henson decided to take a vacation to Las Vegas. The Lenexa, Kansas-based couple left their dog Dexter in the care of a local pet hotel. According New York PostJeremy and Sarah fix your dog’s stay for five days. But, to their surprise, Dexter ended up temporarily disrupting their vacation with a visit to the family’s front door.

“We were both like, ‘Oh my God, it’s Dexter!’ Jeremy said to Interior edition.

Jeremy added that Dexter’s escape was not easy. The dog would have had to scale a six-foot fence to escape the hotel and then walk about two miles home. But luckily he knew where to go and wasn’t hurt in his little adventure!

The couple witnessed the moment Dexter greeted their front door using their Ring camera. Dexter moans and claws at the front door to get into the house. of his appearance, the dog did not seem to know that its owners were absent at the time.

“Obviously he didn’t understand the fact that we were gone; he just thought we were home. And he takes his protection job very seriously,” Jeremy said.

Still, Jeremy used their Ring camera tools to their advantage. Viewers can hear Jeremy in the clip trying to appease Dexter. Meanwhile, the couple apparently informed the pet hotel about Dexter’s escape artist trick. Finally, an employee arrives about a minute and a half into the viral video and retrieves Dexter safely.

Despite the public’s shock at Dexter’s escape, his navigational skills did not completely catch the owners off guard. Jeremy called their dog “determined [and] very intelligent.” Unfortunately, that same intelligence, added the dog’s father, can sometimes get Dexter in trouble.

No word from the pet hotel on exactly how the dog made it!
