Jacques-Paul is pursued by Eddie Hearn – one of the most powerful people in boxing – after The Problem Child claimed the promoter paid off a judge in two recent, high-profile fights.
In a newly filed lawsuit, obtained by TMZ SportsHearn and his company, Matchroom Boxing, say their reputation was tarnished after Paul, 25, “made shockingly false and baseless allegations” during a Sept. 20 interview.
In conversation, Paul claimed that Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing paid the judge Glenn Feldman in the month of August Oleksandr Usyk versus. Antoine Joshua struggle. Paul claimed the same judge was also paid by Matchroom in April Katie Taylor versus. Amanda Serrano struggle.
Taylor won by split decision over Serrano, while Joshua lost by split decision to Usyk.
“Glenn Feldman shows up in Saudi Arabia and tags Anthony Joshua to win the fight when everyone who watched the fight said it wasn’t a split decision,” Paul said…before adding, “In all obviously this guy is paid by Matchroom Boxing.”
Hearn included Paul’s video interview as an exhibit in the trial.
Paul, in the interview, also acknowledged that it was “a bold statement and an accusation that I don’t consider likely, but it’s just plain blatant. And they don’t even try to hide it.”
Hearn – who is suing Paul for defamation – called the comments “strangely untrue”.
He seeks damages in excess of $75,000.
