Drew Barrymore recently got some dating advice from an iconic source. During episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, the host chatted with movie legend Whoopi Goldberg. As celebrities reflected on the last time the two sat together, Goldberg offered Barrymore some interesting words of wisdom on dating.
As the 47-year-old host chatted with the star of sister act movies, Barrymore was quick to ask Goldberg about his love life. “Last time you were here, we were both single,” Barrymore reminded his guest. “You weren’t in a relationship. Are you going out now?”
Goldberg was quick to let the host know that no, she wasn’t dating. However, Barrymore was even quicker to let the icon and fans know that after six years she is dating again.
As Barrymore shared on the show, “Because it had been so many years, I started to worry a bit.” The host went on to admit, “I’m too good to be on my own…I like it too much!”
Goldberg was happy to chime in and share her thoughts on dating Barrymore. The Oscar-winning actress let the host know that it’s okay to “be alone and not alone.” The comedian then compared it to a hit-and-run.
“Maybe a hit-and-run is a better way to go,” Goldberg advised. “For now until you’re like, ‘You know, now I really want somebody to be a part of this. Right now that might not be what you’re looking for, that’s probably why you’re doing well.
A different approach to intimacy
Barrymore wasn’t always good at being alone. Before breaking up with ex-husband Will Kopelman in 2016, the couple had been married for four years. They even share two daughters together: Olive, 10, and Frankie, 8.
Since breaking up with her ex-husband, Barrymore has admitted to enjoying being alone. Now that she’s older and wiser, her view of intimacy has also changed. As Barrymore wrote in a recent blog post“At almost 48, I have very different feelings about the intimacy I had growing up,” the For all time shared star. She went on to say that when she was younger, “I was looking for company! Validation! Excitement! Pleasure! Hedonism! Fun! And adventures!!
Now that she is in her 40s and has children of her own, she is much more “prudent” when it comes to company. In fact, Barrymore wrote, “I have had the pleasure of changing direction when it comes to love for myself and my two daughters. I know that doesn’t include a man and haven’t in a while. I found out while working in therapy.
