netflix could sign an advertising partnership agreement with two notable companies.
An ad-supported version of subscriptions is coming to Netflix, whether we like it or not, and the streaming giant is already working on a possible arrangement.
According to Reuters, Netflix is in talks with two companies for possible partnerships. Google is one option and the second is NBCUniversal, reports PC Mag.
This all comes after headlines surfaced that Netflix might buy digital media video streaming platform Roku. This could mean that Netflix will use a third-party option to deliver ads, as Roku already has a thriving ad business.
For those with paid, ad-free subscriptions, don’t worry, the new tier won’t affect you. CEO Ted Sarandos said, “We’re adding a level of advertising for people who say, ‘Hey, I want a lower price and I’ll watch the ads’.”
