Prince Harry and Meghan Markle detail their love story like never before!
If you’ve ever wondered how an American actress ended up meeting, dating and falling in love with a British prince IRL, look no further because they spill the tea! In the first three episodes new docu-series of the couple Harry and Meghanthe couple broke up their romance with never-before-seen anecdotes and images of their most important moments!

how they met
First, how did they meet? Turns out it had nothing to do with fairy tales. Forget fancy dresses and palaces, when Harry first spotted Meghan she was rocking the classic dog ears Snapchat filter in a video about their mutual friend instagram Account!
It was in 2016 when the Combinations alum was on a break from the show. Fresh out of a breakup, she was ready to spend a “single summer” on a trip to Europe, like her friend Lucy Fraser put, but everything changed in the blink of an eye. Meghan explained:
“I had a career, I had my life, I had my way and then came H. I mean, talk about a twist.”
After seeing the actress’ video, Harry remembers thinking:
“I was like ‘who is THAT?!’
Via a private email from her anonymous friend, the Agree or disagree alum then learned that “Prince Haz” had asked about her and was “dying” to meet. Meghan replied:
“Who is Prince Haz??”
LOLz!
And get this: the first thing the artist asked to see was the 38-year-old star’s Instagram feed! She literally had a date with one of the most famous princes in the world and she wanted to check his diet first. Seriously?! She served:
“So that’s the problem. When people say, “Did you google it?” No, but it’s your homework. You’re like, let me see what they’re talking about in their feed, not what someone else is saying about them, but what they’re posting about themselves. So I crossed over and it was just like beautiful photography and all these environmental shots and this time it was going through Africa.
The next day, they exchanged numbers and “were in constant contact.” For their first date, they met over a drink at Soho Home at 76 Dean Street in London while she was in the area for Wimbledon. And from there, things took off…
First trip
Their initial first date was followed by two back-to-back dates in London, and then Harry invited Meghan to join him on a trip to Botswana in 2016, Prince Williamteased’s younger brother:
“I was amazed that she said ‘yes’. This woman, who I actually met twice, she’s coming to Botswana and we’re going to live in a tent for five days!
And it started as awkwardly as you might expect, the mother-of-two added:
“So I’m getting there, it’s the first time I’ve seen him in a month. Very awkward at first like, oh my God, are we, are we kissing? Are we- what we? And I just remember him handing me a chicken sandwich!
Luckily, they jumped into a land cruiser to tour the area and soon began to warm up again, Harry continued:
“For me, it was essential to share it with Meg. To start with, we sat next to each other, then we progressed to hold hands, then we kissed and in the middle of the bumps, then everything seemed totally normal and natural to us.
He added:
“We had to get to know each other before the rest of the world, before the media, you know, got to it.”
About life in “the bush”, his wife replied:
“We could both be completely ourselves.”
She continued:
“There are no distractions. There was no cell phone reception. There is no mirror, there is no bathroom. And there was no, how can I watch? Fortunately, we really loved each other.
A super useful way to start their relationship considering it would soon become the talk of the town!! After the trip, the lovebirds made a pact to visit each other in person every two weeks, swapping time between London and Toronto (although before the romance went public they often met in the UK as it was easier to maintain a sense of privacy). Harry explained:
“Those first few months when no one knew, it made a lot more sense for her to come see me so she could then come and stay with me on the grounds of Kensington Palace.”
He said:
“We can then jump in the car and drive up to Windsor and go for rides around Frogmore, and do all those things together so we can get to know each other without someone taking a picture and it becoming news.”

Meghan’s friend Abigail Spencer was the first to hear about the relationship in September 2016, and she knew from then on that it was something serious. She told the cameras:
“She was like I thought I met someone and I’m in love. It’s Prince Harry. I could feel everything vibrating. I was screaming because I felt it was different.
Soon after, the rest of the world learned about the romance as well. Harry remembers receiving a phone call from a trusted staff member, Jason Knauf, which revealed that a British newspaper was going to reveal their story. To enjoy one last night of fun before getting thrust into the spotlight, the couple hit the town with Princess Eugenie and her then-boyfriend Jack Brooksbank for Halloween.
Commitment
Obviously, things only got worse for the couple – and then it was time for Prince Haz to get on his knees! Elsewhere in the first part of the episodes, Harry revealed:
“I wanted to do it earlier. I had to ask my grandmother for permission [Queen Elizabeth II]I couldn’t do it outside the UK.
One night at their cottage, Harry remembers opening “a bottle of champagne while she [Markle] was roasting a chicken – and that gave the game a little bit. He joked:
“She was like, ‘You never drink champagne, what’s the occasion?’ And I was like, ‘I don’t know, I just had it, like, hanging out.'”
Outside, Harry had set up “15 of these electric candles” around their property while telling Meghan “not to peek”. Inside, she called her friend and whispered, “It’s really happening! Oh !!
In never-before-seen snaps of the romantic moment (above), Harry could be seen on one knee while holding a ring box in one hand and patting Meghan’s beagle, Dude, which had been airlifted from the United States. Meghan reflected:
“He was on one knee and I was like ‘yes’, we were so happy and excited. We thought, ‘We’re doing this!’ »
An engagement also meant more royal fanfare. Discuss their famous seated engagement interview and photocall in the Sunken Garden at Kensington Palace which followed on November 27, 2017, Meghan said it was an “orchestrated reality show”, adding:
“It was repeated. We did the press thing, then we went straight inside, took off the coat and did the interview. So everything is in this same moment.
The rest, as they say, is history. After getting married in May 2018 to St. George’s Chapel in windsor castlethey welcomed their son Archie3 years old, in May 2019 and her daughter Lilibet, 1, in June 2021. Of course, in 2020 they left the royal family and finally settled in Montecito, California, starting a never-ending feud with the other royals in the process. Reactions, Perezcious readers?!
