An anonymous college coach recently tried to blow up Savannah James’ recruitment procedures for her son, but people point out that he actually revealed how simple the process is.
Bronny James is finishing his senior year of high school and, as expected, he’s a top prospect. Bronny dominated sports media news yesterday after it was revealed he had been nominated McDonald’s All-American, an honor reserved for high school prospects. Subsequently, he was placed on ON3’s NIL 100 assessment list which ranks all athletes eligible for name, image and likeness offers.
Bronny James landed No. 1 on the list with $7.5 million next to his name. It’s no surprise with his partnerships that include Faze Clan,DSP, Beats by Dreand PlayStation. As Bronny heads to college, he’s currently ranked No. 28 on ESPN’s Top 100 Prospects. Apparently, colleges around the world are doing their best to enter the race for Bronny. Nonetheless, Bronny’s recruitment is wide open and where he wants to land is still shrouded in mystery.
According to Walk3, a college coach has revealed what it’s like to recruit such a high-profile prospect. The ACC coach tried to paint the process negatively before revealing how easy the process really is.
“I tried to get involved, but you had to jump through a thousand hoops just to get to the mom,” an ACC coach told On3. “You’re not allowed to talk to the kid. You have to schedule a meeting on Tuesday or Thursday with the publicist just to talk to the mom.
The comment is bizarre from a coach who likely has assistants scheduling meetings for him with someone outside of his inner circle. With the amount of attention given to Bronny, it’s just to Savanna James to protect his son. Imagine if the coach didn’t remain anonymous while revealing that he failed to recruit Bronny by scheduling a phone call. It would definitely not be a good look for a coach or a school.
