Oops! Several of TodayThe most popular hosts have suffered significant on-air wardrobe malfunctions over the years. Sure, Savannah Guthrie and his teammates handled the blips like pros, proving why they’re the faces of one of TV’s most popular daytime programs.
During an August 2022 episode of Today, Savannah wore a white blouse with black stripes on it during the show. She carried out her duties as host as usual, seated with Hoda Kotb, Al-Roker and Craig Melvin on the couch and later joined them at the news desk. It wasn’t until after the episode where she went backstage that she realized something was wrong with her outfit.
“Realizing you’ve been wearing your shirt inside out all morning. #Monday,” the news anchor captioned a photo posted to her Instagram Story. In the photo, Savannah held up her shirt tag to show that she accidentally wore it the wrong way around. Still, she managed to smile after the funny confusion.
Before another episode of Today that same month, Savannah admitted that she “slept a lot” and nearly missed the show. She documented her trip to the studio for her 7 a.m. show on Instagram, heading to the set with just minutes to spare. The legal analyst shouted “miracle workers” from behind the scenes. They helped her with her hair and makeup before she joined Craig at the news desk just in time to do the local news.
Hoda was given the day off, causing Craig to poke fun at his co-host who nearly slept through the show that morning. The Deadline the anchor himself nearly missed a show in October 2022 while eating a slice of pizza backstage.
“You also almost had the morning off,” Craig said in the episode, adding, “Savannah Guthrie came in about 15 minutes ago. She overslept! She’s normal!”
The former White House correspondent joined the Today team in 2011 and has kept a good attitude about some of the show’s mishaps over the years. She celebrated 10 years on the program in June 2021.
“It was a dream come true, really,” she said. People at the time of her Today Important step. “And of course, I remember my first day. I remember being stressed about my outfit. I remember when I got the main job at 7 a.m. a year later, and it was exciting, stressful, and terrifying, all the emotions rolled into one.
